Very interesting, hits on a lot of the points I hear from my friends who have left the church.
We all know them, the kids who were raised in church. They were stars of the youth group. They maybe even sang in the praise band or led worship. And then… they graduate from High School and they leave church. What happened?
It seems to happen so often that I wanted to do some digging; To talk to these kids and get some honest answers. I work in a major college town with a large number of 20-somethings. Nearly all of them were raised in very typical evangelical churches. Nearly all of them have left the church with no intention of returning. I spend a lot of time with them and it takes very little to get them to vent, and I’m happy to listen. I’m a Canadian living in stockholm. You might want to check out New Life church when you come over to stockholm next time. There are two services, 10am and 1pm, it’s bilingual, English and swedish, people are from all over the globe, many local Swedes too, the teaching is very biblical, the style is pragmatic, not very pentecostal, there are 200-300 people in the first service. Enjoy your time in Sweden.
Örebro and Strängnäs are worth a visit, if you haven’t been to, they are not far from Eskilstuna.

Hey
New Life is also in Vasteras (sorry I don’t have a swedish keyboard) and they’re planting a church in Eskilstuna, so a friend and I have been going there, but they only hold their services twice a month now.
I haven’t been to Orebro or Strangnas, anything I should look out for when there?

Yes, Vasteras has a new Life branch.
There is a fairly large slott in Orebro, it’s a round one, close to downtown, slotts are common in Sweden, some of them are like palaces, this one is a military type. And the downtown area is kind of relaxing, comparing to stockholm I guess.
Strängnäs is a typical tourism town, lots of water, a nice harbor. My wife likes it somehow. It’s a change for people from stockholm, but it may not be very attractive for folks from Eskilstuna.
